Arrest Me For Having Hands?

Gun laws are not about protecting the citizens, they  are all about protecting those who wish to control the citizenry.  Even so, let’s forget that for a moment, for the sake of argument.

There are bad people out there.  Fortunately, the chances of you being killed by a deer is a lot greater than you ever being shot to death.  That has nothing to do with laws as  deer aren’t allowed into law school and bad people don’t care about laws.  Still, the fact is that peaceful people get killed by murderous people from time to time.  This prompts the knee-jerk crowd to say, “Someone should pass a law.”  Really?

Let’s say I have a child who is in kindergarten.  I go and I pick that child up when school is through.  We go to the ice cream parlor for a couple of cones, and then we go home to play catch before going in for dinner.  Would that make me a bad guy or a good guy?  Now, tell me, what if I say I was carrying a concealed weapon while doing all of that; am I now an immoral man and a bad dad?

Let’s go a little farther with this line of reasoning.  Let’s say I am a good dad and also someone who adheres to stupid, inane statutes, and I am patiently waiting for child to come running out to meet me.  At the same time my child and the others are coming out, a deranged man, probably on selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors, steps out of a van with a shotgun and starts blasting away at the kids?

Good people, moral people, people who should be carrying weapons, these people are the ones who are likely to obey stupid, inane statutes that violate common sense and just liberty.  Bad people don’t give a damn about stupid statutes or even constitutionally compatible laws.  In the second scenario, the “law abiding” dad died along with the children who were only protected by a statute.  Statutes do not protect very well, do they?

The immoral love to run around screaming, “You can’t legislate morality!”  You know what?  They are right, you can’t legislate morality.  Doesn’t matter, as that isn’t the reason for law.  Law is simply to punish the immoral, not to teach them right from wrong.

Due to age and injuries, I’m not nearly the tough guy I used to be, but I am pretty sure I could kill someone with my hands, if I wanted to do so.  Does that make me a bad guy?  Am I worthy of a jail sentence simply because I have fists at the ends of my arms?

Statutes don’t save lives, guns do.
